'Apocalyptic Clock' reported the time when humanity had destroyed 2 minutes
Apocalypse Clock, a tool that symbolizes the level of danger to mankind, has recently inched a half minute closer to the time of destruction.
According to the BBC, is a symbolic tool developed by the US Nuclear Scientists Group, consisting of 15 Nobel laureates, reflecting the level of warnings about the time of eruption or the possibility of human destruction.
The apocalyptic clock only takes 2 minutes to destroy.
The bigger the global hazards, the more this watch will run near midnight. Most recently, Apocalyptic Clock Management scientists have adjusted the clock to 30 seconds. This means only 2 minutes to midnight.
"North Korea's nuclear weapons program has made significant progress in 2017, increasing the risk for North Korea, the US and other countries in the region," the scientists said. "The rhetoric and provocation of both sides have increased the likelihood of nuclear war."
In early 2017, Apocalyptic Clock was also adjusted for half a minute with midnight milestones. Statements are considered a major factor making scientists adjust the clock.
This year, scientists also continuously pointed out the risks from Trump's policies, including the decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement and the government's failure in a nuclear deal with Iran.
The farthest point of the apocalypse was 17 minutes in 1991.
The last time the clock hit nearly midnight this year in 1953, when the US and the Soviet Union started the nuclear race. That's when the US and the Soviet Union tried thermonuclear bombs.
During the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, the Apocalyptic clock still reported 7 minutes to midnight.'The Cuban missile crisis is actually only a few weeks away. World leaders quickly resolved the crisis, established a hotline and signed a treaty to stop nuclear testing until 1963, ' scientists said.
In fact, the Apocalyptic clock can be completely reversed, once the tense situation subsides. In 1963, this watch turned back to 12 minutes.
