The Apocalyptic Clock's needle will still be 5 minutes from midnight in 2013.

News from atomic scientists (BAS) informs them to maintain the status of the Apocalypse Clock after examining the situation of world nuclear arsenals, the nuclear crisis at Fukushima and current events. Extreme weather phenomenon caused by climate change.

"2012 is the hottest year in the US, with a severe drought and violent storms. These extreme weather events completely coincide with climate models' predictions," BAS stated.

Doomsday Clock is a symbolic clock created by the leadership of the Newsletter of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago in the United States in 1947, aims to provide a level of warning about nuclear war on a global scale. The bigger the nuclear threat, the more the watch will move closer to midnight (12 midnight). Today the apocalyptic clock is now used to warn the threat to the world from all the dangers that can threaten humans like climate change or nanotechnology weapons.

On January 14, 2010, the Apocalypse Clock's needle was turned back a minute and only 6 minutes away from midnight. At that time BAS turned back the clock, believing that world leaders were trying to resolve the proliferation of nuclear weapons and other global hazards.

But on January 10, 2012, the Apocalypse's Clock moved another minute to nearly midnight due to climate change and the failure of the international community in an effort to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons. With the latest decision of BAS, Apocalyptic Clock will still be 5 minutes away from midnight.
