Enterovirus strain causes encephalitis (Photo: kuleuven) According to Dr. Ngo Thi Thi, head of the National Pediatric Hospital's Department of Microbiology, PCR technique is based on amplifying a gene segment of the virus to identify enterovirus strains causing encephalitis - Meninges have been successfully performed by the department's molecular biology department.
The PCR method allows amplification of the viral load exponentially, so it can be diagnosed as soon as the patient is newly infected with enterovirus when the viral load is not significant.
The hospital will continue to develop PCR techniques to detect groups of eight viruses that often cause meningitis - meningitis for our country's pediatric patients.
Phùng Thị Bích Thủy said that since the beginning of the year, the hospital has received 65 cases of suspected meningitis - meningitis due to enterovirus. PCR testing confirmed that there were 33 cases of meningitis - meningitis caused by enterovirus.
