Asteroids are about to fly through the earth

An asteroid will glide over the Earth next Sunday. This event can be most clearly observed from New Zealand.

The 2014 RC asteroid was discovered in late August thanks to Catalina survey center in Tucson, Arizona. The US Aerospace Agency (NASA) said it appeared the following night and was observed from the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope, located at the top of Haleakalā on Maui Island in the Hawaiian Islands.

The 2014 RC is expected to glide across the Earth at a distance of only a tenth of the distance from the Earth to the Moon. In the nearest location, it will be located about 34,000km from New Zealand. Meanwhile, the location of weather satellites or geostationary satellites is often in orbit about 36,000km.

Typically, scientists calculate the proximity of a space object by the distance between the center of the object, or in this case the central position of the Earth's core.

According to RT, 2014 RC will surf the Earth on September 7 at around 18:18 (GMT) and is expected to not cause a dangerous impact. Asteroid movement will be closely observed to ensure no potential collisions occur.

NASA experts say meteorites or asteroids may not be visible to the naked eye, because they will have a very fuzzy shape even in favorable weather conditions.

So far, NASA has discovered more than 10,000 objects in the solar system that fly near the Earth.
