Australian troops declare war on toads
Australian troops have just been invited by environmentalists to join the spreading cane toads, threatening to become a disaster in northern Australia.
This toad was imported from Hawaiian island in 1935 to fight beetles. There are more than 200 million birds on the 3,000 km route from Queensland, the northeast, to Darwin, in the north.
Ian Morris, the Frog Watch spokesman, said it was necessary to mobilize maximum resources to combat this calamity, and if the military actively participated in the war against toads, it would very effective.
This toad skin is toxic, so they have significantly reduced the number of snakes, lizards and possums in Australia.
