New England Journal of Medicine recently reported that US researchers have found that the use of Azithromycin antibiotics increases the risk of death in cardiovascular patients.

This antibiotic is used in the treatment of bronchitis, pneumonia, ear infection and sexually transmitted diseases.

Conduct a survey by administering Azithromycin to patients for the first 5 days. Scientists found that the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease was 2.5 times higher than those who did not take this antibiotic.

In addition, they compared 8,000 patients using Azithromycin and millions of patients taking Amoxicillin antibiotics or not taking any antibiotics.

The results showed that the risk of death in Azithromycin users increased slightly compared to the rest.

However, Dr. Gregg C. Fonarow, director of the UCLA cardio prevention program, said further research is needed to confirm the above statement.
