Be careful of infections when it is cold

Cold weather, the air has not been adequately warmed while passing through the nose, to the trachea and into the lungs, reducing the resistance of the respiratory mucosa.

Prof. Dr. Le Van Phang, former Director of the Institute for Accreditation of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals, warns that the current infection is still the disease with the highest incidence in the disease model in our country although the disease is not contagious ( Cardiovascular, diabetes, metabolic disorders, cancer, .) are increasing rapidly.

The infection syndrome is very diverse , can occur in all organs such as respiratory infections (sore throat, sinusitis, bronchitis, lung, tuberculosis, .), gastrointestinal infections (stomatitis , esophagus, stomach, hepatitis, pancreas, appendicitis, diarrhea, gastrointestinal disorders, helminths, .), (cystitis, nephritis, renal pelvis), genital infections (gonorrhea, syphilis , .), septic, neural, musculoskeletal infections.

Anyone is susceptible, in which young children, the elderly, people with immunosuppressive drugs, . are considered to be at high risk of infections. If not treated promptly and properly, the disease can lead to complications and risk of death.

How is it spread?

According to Assoc. Phùng, pathogenic microorganisms penetrate into the body through the skin barrier, mucosa multiplies in tissue cells causing infection syndrome . Symptoms of infection depend on the type of disease. Some common symptoms include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, night sweats, chills, aches, weight loss, vomiting . These symptoms are the immune system's response to eliminating the organism. from the body.

A healthy person can get an infection when an infected person coughs or sneezes into the air. Microorganisms in droplets are suspended in the air and enter the body of a healthy person through the nose, mouth or eyes.

And the pathogen that causes gastroenteritis, the gastrointestinal tract is usually spread by stool - the mouth, food or water is contaminated. Some infections can be spread through eating and drinking such as kissing, sharing cups, bowls, and spoon dishes.

Some routes of infection can be sexually transmitted, from mother to child, direct contact or spread through intermediate hosts such as mosquitoes, mites, dog bugs .

Caution cold season

According to experts, respiratory infections often increase in the cold winter spring. The reason is that the cold weather, the air we breathe has not been fully warmed while passing through the nose, to the trachea and into the lungs, it reduces the resistance of the respiratory mucosa.

Inhaled air usually has many types of bacteria, when the resistance of the airway mucosa is reduced, the bacteria easily penetrate the body causing respiratory infections. In particular, the most common disease is sore throat, pneumonia and multiple infections of chronic diseases.

In order to prevent infection in general, Assoc. Prof. Phung noted that people need to wash their hands after going to the toilet and before eating, reducing the risk of infection. At the same time, people need to eat and drink boiled, ensure food processing is always safe and hygienic, eat and drink in various forms of exercise to strengthen the immune system and have safe sex, limit contact. For people with infectious diseases, do not go to the hospital if it is not necessary.
