Birds also know to adhere to traffic speeds

Although birds do not know how to read road signs, recent research shows that they can still guess the speed limit for each specific road segment.

In a report published in Biology Letters, Pierre Legagneux biologist of University of Quebec (Canada) noted an interesting phenomenon, European-like birds standing on one side of the roadway tend to fly away when one the car is waiting to arrive.

'They react the same even if the speed of each car changes,' National Geographic magazine quoted expert Legagneux.

Do not stop there, they never fly above the prescribed speed on each stage, although sometimes there are also drivers violating.

'We found the birds reacting to the average speed regulated on the road' , according to Legagneux.

So, is the bird capable of determining the speed limit for each specific segment? Daniel Blumstein, the behavioral expert of the wild world at the University of California - Los Angeles (USA), thinks they can also learn how to respond to traffic.

For example, a speeding vehicle can knock birds flying. And several times, birds will learn how to react to vehicles on specific roads, explains Blumstein.

The ability to learn from the surroundings of feathers is always a source of surprise for researchers.

For example, crows were discovered using stone as a tool to make the water in the bottle rise until the worm was floating on the water.
