Breakthrough on electric car batteries

Researchers in Sweden have devised a groundbreaking solution to the problem of electric car batteries, turning the chassis into an energy storage device.

The problem with electric cars is the size and weight of the batteries, which make them heavier and less expensive, according to Reuters.

Researchers across Europe are currently working on a project, seen as a solution to the problem - to turn the entire chassis into a battery.

Called 'Storage', ie "Archive" project launched alternative majority is used to produce steel chassis with polymer composite materials capable of storing energy.

Leif Asp, head of research at the Swedish Institute for Swerea Research, said the solution was feasible and cost-effective.

"We conducted research on mixed polymer materials and found they could have at least two functions at once. In this case, it is a function of energy storage and load-bearing function , "Asp said.

Electric vehicles using the new material have been developed by scientists at the Royal College London. It has a roof made of thin carbon fiber, replacing the former metal material.

'We have removed the entire battery of this electric car. Now, the only source of power that comes from the roof is this extremely large storage structure , "Leif Asp said in a presentation of the new electric vehicle.

While it may take years to release the new energy storage technology, Asp added that laptops and mobile phone batteries could be used by the makers of the device. it's right
