A fisherman in Michigan in the United States just caught a "monster-sized" salmon 1.05m long and weighs 14.5kg, the UPI newspaper reported.

Brooks Wheeler said he caught the king salmon last weekend near Grand Haven Lighthouse Pier.

A friend filmed a Fishing Wheeler video and posted it on YouTube.

"God, it's a monster ," the cameraman said in the video.

Wheeler told WXMI-TV: "When it appears, you can see the tail flapping on the water. It looks like a shark."

"I can't believe my net hasn't broken."

Wheeler said he intended to eat salmon and retain its skin.
