Central: Flood water threatens to spread avian influenza

Director of Animal Health Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) Bui Quang Anh expressed concern about the risk of outbreaks of bird flu in the Central region because flood water will spread pathogens from Quang Tri. Meanwhile, the rain and flood have not shown signs of ending.

Meeting of the National Steering Committee for Avian Influenza Prevention this afternoon (November 6), Mr. Bui Quang Anh warned, the risk of spreading bird flu on a large scale is very large.

In Cao Bang, the influenza epidemic began to recur in small poultry flocks, mainly domestic ducks. People here have dumped dead poultry into rivers and streams, causing pathogens to spread along the water stream.

In Gio Linh (Quang Tri), the flu has sickened, died and destroyed over 2,600 ducks. This locality met flooded water again, making the disease spread and spread widely. Therefore, with this weather in the Central provinces, flooding in the Mekong Delta and cold in the North - favorable conditions for avian influenza virus to exist, develop and spread.

In terms of blue ear disease, the epidemic is still complicated and not controlled, especially in Khanh Hoa and Ca Mau. Mr. Quang Anh said that controlling the area when the epidemic in Khanh Hoa is not tight, while the veterinary force is too thin in Ca Mau.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong requested that these provinces have to explain in writing directly to the Prime Minister about the translation of the extension.

Also because of the prolonged epidemic, the large farms of Khanh Hoa now have thousands of porkers coming to the market to remain sluggish. Meanwhile, sick pigs escape the quarantine " net " for selling. Last week, the market management force seized a case of transporting 7 blue-eared pigs from Nam Sach (Hai Duong) to Hai Phong and another with 70 milk pigs on the way to the rotary kiln. The number of pigs is too long in the insulated cabinet, moldy mouth and anus.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Ba Bong asked the Department of Animal Health to closely monitor the vaccination of the second nasal bird flu vaccine in the localities. If a locality that does not do well will be dealt with, such as naming the name and the amount of waste. Besides, it is necessary to consider the quarantine plan, control the transport, avoid to recurrent consumption of sick pigs.
