China develops radioactive detection robot

In the context of growing concern about the nuclear crisis following the November 11 earthquake tsunami, Chinese scientists have invented a robot capable of detecting radioactivity and substances. Chemistry is harmful to human health when special circumstances occur.

With a height of 88cm and a weight of 30kg, this remote control robot is capable of climbing slopes up to 60 degrees, swinging through water, down stairs, transforming and conducting radiation measurements in the rubble after earthquake.

This robot is similar to the one used in the earthquake reconstruction work at Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.

" This robot is capable of detecting radioactivity and chemicals in complex situations," said Song Aiguo, head of the Department of Science and Technology at the Southeast University in Nanjing .

In addition, these robots can also locate radioactive and radioactive sources, which are transmitted to the operator, while they can put the other radioactive material in a lead box.

This is the fifth generation of the robot that was developed last year at the University of Southeastern Robotics and Robotics Laboratory in Nanjing, China. The first was launched in 2007. These robots have been used in anti-terrorist forces to host the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai Expo .
