Robot robot in China

The Stage Robot not only possesses long, smooth black hair, porcelain white skin, soulful eyes but also communicates with eyes and talks like a real person.

According to Xinhua, the new interactive robot called Jiefang was introduced by the robot research and development team at China University of Science and Technology (USTC) in Hefei, Anhui last weekend.

Giai Giai is shaped like a woman."Hello everyone, I am Giai. It's a pleasure to meet you. Please don't stand too close to me when taking a close-up shot that makes my face look very fat," the robot introduced itself.

The design engineer team took three years to research and develop this new generation interactive robot. It can talk, reveal subtle expressions, move lips and body movements, according to Chen Xiaoping, who leads the research.

Compared to previous interactive robots, the Stage's eyeballs naturally spontaneously and the spoken dialogue matches the lip movement. However, Jijiang cannot cry or laugh and these aspects are still being developed.

"We hope to develop the robot so that it is capable of deep learning. We will add facial expression recognition feature, allowing it to interact better with people," Chen said.

Chen expects Giai to become a wise "robot goddess" . He also shared that Giai Giai is invaluable and the team has not thought of mass production.
