Robot dog transport version of China

The big four-legged dog, recently introduced in China, came in two years after being completed in the United States with the function of transporting infantry support.

Foot Support System (LS3) was developed by the Boston Dynamics robot company under a contract from the Pentagon. Its predecessor is a four-legged robot nicknamed the Great Dog, which transports troops through rugged terrain, receiving voice commands and images. Field trials start in 2012.

The Chinese version of the dog transport was first introduced at a technology fair in late August. It was called Da Gou , which means Big Dog in Chinese.

Da Gou was designed by NORINCO Research Institute, weighs 130kg and carries 30kg of equipment. The robot is fast moving at a speed of about 6km / h and can move at a slope of 30 degrees. Da Gou's ability to climb steep and adjust speed is equivalent to the Big Dog with the index of 110kg, 6.4km / h and 35 degrees, respectively. However, Large Dogs and LS3 can carry between 150 and 300kg of goods and equipment.

According to Popsci, Da Gou's transport capacity shows that NORINCO's research program is still in its infancy. Future upgrades are expected to have greater shipping capabilities, while improving speed and uptime.

Similar to the LS3's military mission or the Great Dog, Da Gou was designed to transport military supplies in hilly terrain. In addition, Da Gou can also support disaster relief or scouting in the battlefield. In future versions, Da Gou can also carry weapons.
