Spotmini robot launches new version: compact and more doggy

Boston Dynamics has just released an interesting video about the SpotMini robot, which looks and feels like a real dog.

In a 25-second video released today, Boston Dynamics (now a subsidiary of SoftBank, Japan) performed very maneuverable and felt like a real dog.

This is also the most compact version of the robot so far with the new sensor system that allows SpotMini to feel the face and the human body.

Unlike many other Boston Dynamics video tests, this time SpotMini does not suffer from human attacks, stumbles or challenges. SpotMini simply runs around and displays the same behavior as a dog.

According to QZ, the SpotMini robot was first introduced in June of this year, and the upgraded version is actually much better. SpotMini not only has a slimmer, more solid texture, but also has more intelligent and accurate control algorithms.

At a conference in Boston in October, Boston Development chief Marc Raibert said he believed robots would grow stronger than the Internet, and that this could be the company's first step toward realizing that ambition.

In June this year, Boston Dynamics has officially belonged to the SoftBank operator, Japan after the acquisition from Google. Previously, the company was acquired by Google from late 2013.

With the acquisition of Boston Dynamics, SoftBank is expected to create a robot revolution in the not so distant future.
