Community Cars, a company based in Texas (USA), has invented an electric car called Kenguru, designed for people with disabilities who use wheelchairs.

We live in a modern world full of technological wonders. However, even with all these advancements, getting around remains a problem for many drivers with disabilities. Although many vehicles are wheelchair accessible, it still takes considerable time and effort to get in and out of them.

Therefore, assistive transportation specifically designed for wheelchair users is something they desperately need. And the Kenguru wheelchair was created with that noble purpose in mind.

The Kenguru (pronounced like the most common marsupial in Australia) is more than just a smart car. It made a big splash in the electric vehicle world as the first electric car created specifically for wheelchair users.

Kenguru looks compact from the outside, like other four-wheeled electric cars. But in reality, it's just a shell designed to accommodate a wheelchair through the rear door.

Driving is equally simple. Motorcycle-style handlebars replace traditional steering wheels, and the company is currently working on a joystick version for those with limited upper body strength.

It only has three gears: forward, neutral, and reverse. Technically, it's an electric scooter, meaning no driver's license is required, making it more accessible for people with disabilities.

Kenguru only has a top speed of about 40km/h and can travel up to 96km before needing to be recharged. Charging time takes about 8 hours. Of course, the speed and range aren't exceptional, but they're sufficient to help people with disabilities get to the store, watch movies, and meet friends more conveniently.

The Kenguru scooter has a top speed of 45 km/h. It is both environmentally friendly and suitable for people with disabilities to travel independently within the city without assistance.

The Kenguru car costs $25,000 (585 million VND) . This is still much cheaper than converting a regular car into a vehicle suitable for people with disabilities, which can cost up to $80,000.
