China will soon surpass Russia in the number of satellites operating in orbit

China currently operates 105 satellites in space and only needs to launch 6 more satellites, Beijing will overtake Russia in terms of the number of satellites operating in orbit.

The above information was announced by China Aerospace and Technology Science Group.

After Dong Fang Hong I - China's first satellite in 1970, Beijing launched a total of 232 satellites into space. Last year, China made 19 launches to bring 28 more satellites into orbit.

Thanks to the plan to launch 4 more satellites in the near future, China will soon operate 109 satellites, approaching close to 110 Russian satellites. Accordingly, the speed of China's satellite launch has surpassed the United States.

Under current US government regulations, China is prohibited from conducting satellite launches for other countries that use US technology.

However, China has overcome this barrier by developing its own commercial satellites, serving other countries. Therefore, with the steady pace of flying manned spacecraft to the Thien Cung space station and launching the fastest frequency satellite in the world, China can be proud of being a cosmic powerhouse.

Current statistics show that between 3% and 6% of commercial satellites operating in orbit are designed and manufactured in China, by 2020, this number will increase to 15%.

According to Xinhua, in the context that Beijing continues to promote space exploration programs, China will have about 200 satellites by 2020. In the next 10 years, China will implement 30 launches a year, accounting for 30% of the total launches in the world.
