Chinese doctor implants the ear in the patient's hand
The artificial ear is cultured on the arm and can be hooked to the patient's head in the coming months.
Chinese doctor Guo Shuzhong has just finished cultivating human ears on the patient's arm, RT reported yesterday.
The patient named Ji suffered an accident a year ago. After treatment, his face and cheeks recovered but his right ear was severed, making Mr. Ji unhappy.

"I lost an ear. Therefore, I always felt my body was incomplete," answered Ji Huanqiu.
He was introduced to Dr. Guo, who performed the first face transplant in China in 2006. The famous surgeon devised a way to cultivate the ear on the patient's arm.
First a transplanted skin implant under Mr. Ji's right arm. After that, the doctor took cartilage from the patient's ribs to make artificial ears and transplanted them into his forearm.
"This is the hardest part of the surgery because many complications can occur," said Dr. Guo.
The final step of the transplant will be done in the coming months. The fully developed ear will be removed from the arm and attached to the patient's head by the technique of stitching blood vessels.
Doctors will take at least 4 months to determine if Mr. Ji's new ear is developing. If successful, the forearm can become a new host to cultivate all human parts.
