Restoring the operation of these devices after a two-week quiet period shows that China's mission to conquer the moon prepares to face the last important challenge.
Xinhua News Agency reported that the self-propelled rabbit ship Ngoc was the first device to be awakened over the weekend, then to Hang Nga 3.
Their activities are mostly based on solar energy, which means they must store energy when the landing area is in the Rainbow Bay, or Sinus Iridum, falling into darkness during the past weeks.
Ngoc and Hang Nga 3 are equipped with plutonium backup batteries to keep the circuits in a warm condition despite temperatures down to -180 degrees Celsius at night.
Within the next half month, the duo must allocate time for gathering and resting activities to maintain energy.
