The lion fish volitans (scientific name Pterois volitans) is one of many venomous marine fish species of the genus Pterois, Parapterois, Brachypterois, Ebosia or Dendrochirus of the Scorpaenidae family. In particular, the Pterois genus currently identifies 10 species. Lion fish also have Turkish fish, arowana, lionfish or scorpion fish.

Lion fish live in tropical waters of the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean, but some species can live all over the world. Lion fish is about 6.2-42.4cm in size, the average adult measures 38cm and weighs about 480g. Lion fish can live about 5-15 years.

Lion fish is one of the most beautiful fishes of the ocean. They have long fringes, the body has many red, yellow, orange, brown, black or white stripes. They have large, separate spines, creating stunning splendor.
