Combination vaccine: Inject one shot, prevent 4 diseases
Since 2006, the vaccine company and the No. 1 biological product will produce coordinated vaccines. People need only one injection to prevent 4 diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough and hepatitis B.
On December 27, Prof. Nguyen Thu Van, Director of Vaccine and Biology Company No. 1, National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology said, since 2006, the Institute will produce vaccines to coordinate prevention of diseases: diphtheria, pertussis tetanus and hepatitis B.
Thus, a vaccine will work against four diseases at the same time.
According to GS Van, combination vaccines are a common trend in the world to increase the effectiveness of multiple diseases in a vaccine to help reduce costs and reduce injections.
Currently, the whole process of preparing for the production of this combination vaccine has been basically completed by the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
In the next phase, the Institute will study to produce additional capabilities to prevent polio and meningitis for this combination vaccine.
It is known that currently, in Vietnam, there are only foreign-made Pentaxim vaccines that can prevent 5 diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio and infections such as meningitis, congenital blood clots, tissue cell inflammation . However, Pentaxin vaccine costs over VND 400,000 / nose.
The fact that the No. 1 Vaccine and Biology Company produces such a combination vaccine will give people more opportunities to get vaccinated because of cheaper prices than foreign vaccines.
