China sold the first vaccine to prevent hepatitis E

According to Xinhua, the Hecolin vaccine for hepatitis E is now available in the Chinese market. This is the first vaccine to prevent hepatitis E in the world.

Hecolin vaccine was launched in China after two years of clinical trials of over 113,000 volunteers in Jiangsu Province, Eastern China.

Hecolin by Xiamen Innovax Biotech Co., Ltd. cooperates with Xiamen University (Fujian Province, Southeast China) to study modulation, and has been licensed for production since December 2011.

At the announcement of the vaccine in Xiamen City, Xiamen Innovax General Manager said the company is working with the government to provide the vaccine to people at high risk of getting hepatitis E virus in the community. .

The company is also cooperating with international organizations to bring Hecolin vaccines to other countries around the world.

Hepatitis E is a disease spread through food and water contaminated with viruses. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 20 million people worldwide are infected with this virus each year.

In China, hepatitis E is currently the most common type of hepatitis in adults. The disease is also spread in South and Southeast Asia, Africa and Central America.

Hepatitis E virus has been the most frequent cause of jaundice, hepatitis spread through food and water in the tropics. Although the disease is more contagious than hepatitis A, does not cause acute hepatitis such as hepatitis B, C and D, it can become malignant, especially if the patient is pregnant.
