Core 2 Duo officially launched in Vietnam
On the evening of August 4, Intel Corporation celebrated the official launch of Intel Core 2 processor line in Vietnam with 10 new processors.
These Core 2 processors mark a new turning point for Intel in the microprocessor manufacturing industry for computer systems using 65nm silicon processing technology. The advent of Core 2 celebrated the 25th anniversary of personal computers, and 35 years of the invention of the 4004 microprocessor - Intel's first microprocessor at 108KHz and the number of transistors is 2,300.
Intel Core 2 Duo is Intel's second-generation dual-core processor for personal computers (the first generation is Intel Pentium D processor for desktop computers and the second is processor Intel Core Duo processor for laptops).
The Intel Core 2 Duo desktop processor delivers 40% higher performance and 40% higher energy efficiency than the previous Intel Pentium D processor generation.
At the launch, Gary Willihnganz, Intel's Marketing Manager for Asia Pacific, said there were more than 550 models of desktop motherboards using Core 2 processors, Intel delivered. 1 million Core 2 processors worldwide and in the next 7 weeks this number will be 8 million. In Vietnam, more than 1000 Core 2 Duo processors have been marketed and over 12 Vietnamese brand-name computer manufacturers use this new processor with more than 22 promotions for the product.
Gary confirmed that from now until the end of the year there will be 75% of computers on the market using dual-core processors (including Pentium D and Core 2 Duo).
Currently, Core 2 processors are being offered by Intel to distributors for as low as $ 183.
