Countries welcome the Lunar New Year as Vietnam
Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year) is considered to be the oldest New Year in Vietnamese history. These are the days for everyone in the family to gather together, rest after 1 year of hard work. However, not only in Vietnam, there are many countries around the world that also celebrate the lunar new year.
1. China
Like Vietnam, Chinese New Year is the biggest and most important holiday of the year.
This is an opportunity for the family to celebrate the New Year together, so from the 8th of the lunar calendar, Chinese people from all over the world gather to celebrate Tet.
The traditional Chinese New Year festivals last until the end of the lunar January 15.
To pray for good luck in the new year, Chinese people often decorate their homes by hanging red couplets, red lanterns and burning firecrackers.

2. Cambodia
The lunar new year of Cambodia is a great festival to celebrate the new year according to the traditional calendar of the Khmer nation, also known as Chol Chnam Thamy festival.
Cambodian or Khmer people in Vietnam celebrate the great Chol Chnam Thamy festival. For them also believe that every year a god is sent down to care for life and people in that year, another year comes another god down.
3. Thailand
In the country of Thailand's golden temple, people eat 3-day lunar new year like Vietnam.This year's biggest festival is named Songkran and takes place from April 13 to April 15. At this time, the custom of splashing water at the beginning of the year takes place so that young people will splash water on the old people to show their respect. Elderly people hope that their juniors will ignore the harsh words of the elderly everyday.
Especially the custom of splashing water on the Lunar New Year is very magnificent. It has attracted a lot of tourists, and they are very excited about using brass, pots, water balloons, water guns to fall into each other . Those who get the most water are said to be lucky throughout the year.
4. Taiwan (China)
Taiwanese see this as the biggest holiday of the year, the day when everyone in the family gathers at the dinner table, sharing each other's sorrows, successes and failures in the past year.
The New Year reunion with Taiwanese people is so important, that if a family member comes home late or cannot return, they will still reserve a seat for these people.
5. Singapore
As a country of Chinese origin, Singapore's cultural orientation is heavily influenced by China.The Lunar New Year in Singapore takes place almost at the same time as Vietnam (January 1 of the lunar calendar) .
People decorate their houses on the streets with the typical red color of Tet to wait for the new year. There are many festivals taking place throughout the month from the 1st of the lunar calendar until the middle of February. Highlights include the Lighthouse Festival, Singapore River Hongbao Festival and Chingay Street Festival.
6. Mongolia
Tsagaan Sar or White Month is the name for the Mongols to call for their lunar new year. Tsagaan-Sar Day signals the spring to end a cold winter here, a warm time suitable for the start of a new season.
Everyone in the family gathered together, enjoying a warm family meal. Old people will give gifts to children like the New Year lucky money customs in Vietnam. The fruit trays are displayed to worship the beautifully decorated ancestors.

7 - 8. Korea - Korea

Although there are many other customs on Tet holiday, the customs of having family members together to celebrate Tet are not much different.
The traditional food for Tet in Korea is ttok-kuk (a noodle soup made from cow or chicken), spicy kimchi and rice cake soup. Korean people think that by the end of Ttok-kuk, they will be one year older.
As for North Korea is 'medicinal rice' , this is an important dish in the ancestor tray and used to treat guests at the beginning of the year. Koreans believe that eating this type of rice at the beginning of the new year will make the whole year a prosperous and sweet life.
9. India
The biggest lunar new year day in India is the Holi festival . This is considered the most important festival of the year and is the famous spring festival of the Indian people.
This festival marks the end of the harsh winter and welcomes the spring, which is characteristic of Tet. In addition, Indians think that when the warm sun dispels the winter cold, it is the same as the good fight against evil.
Just like the water splash festival of Thailand, in India, an event where people mix pigments and water to apply on the face, clothes . people around though familiar or strange. Along with a series of other special festivals, this event makes tourists quite impressed and excited to join this festival.
10. Bhutan
It can be said that Bhutan's vacation and Tet schedule is very similar to Vietnam. Bhutanese call this series of days the New Year's Losar. This is the most important holiday of the year according to the lunar calendar, it takes place within the first 15 days and the first three days of the new year.
Every family member returning home no matter where far away, cleaning the house together, demonstrating rice trays, fruit trays to worship ancestors is also a custom of Bhutanese people. The rich platter of food and fruit to thank the gods and ancestors gave them a prosperous life in the old year.
