Details of NASA's 5-stage plan to bring people to Mars

For years, NASA has tried to bring people to Mars, now they are studying with giant new missiles and Orion spacecraft.

In March last year, US law allowed NASA to bring people to Mars in 2033. So they built detailed plans, including five stages of bringing astronauts to Mars orbit.

Mr. William Gerstenmaier - NASA's HR Manager and CEO, presented the plan to Mars, before the advisory council on March 28th.

Brief plan includes 5 stages as follows:

Phase 0 : NASA uses the ISS space station to perform important operations and discoveries and develop commercial space technology with other partners, such as SpaceX, Boeing, Orbital ATK.

Phase 1 : NASA wants to make 6 spacecraft launches from 2018 to 2025.

First, NASA wanted to launch the 98m-high SLS rocket, designed to counterbalance the Saturn V rocket, which led Apollo astronauts to the Moon.

If the test flight and successful Orion spacecraft tests, NASA will launch 5 more SLS missiles.

The first five NASA SLS missiles unrelated to the Europa Clipper probe to Jupiter to study the moon with hidden ice in the ocean may contain life.

NASA also carried out four other tasks, launching pieces of the new space station called Deep Space Gateway into orbit near the moon - the area called the moon-to-ground space - where four astronauts will practice middle assembly space station.

Phase 2 : NASA will build the moon space station by launching the Deep Space Transport space station in 2027.

Then, in 2028 or 2029, four astronauts will live 400 days in a 41-ton pipeline when the ship's orbit is near the moon. Their mission is to ensure the Deep Space Transport space station is always working properly.

Stage 3 : Starting from 2030, the acceptance of Deep Space Transport space station and experienced astronauts.
More SLS flights will transport additional fuel and supplies. It will then launch a spacecraft carrying the first three astronauts to Mars.

Stage 4 : Will start from 2033 onwards and is an important time. NASA must make people adapt to conditions on Mars, perform tasks on the red planet.

The US government only gives NASA 4% of the budget to implement this plan. In addition, NASA has to compete with private companies like Space X.
