Discover a deer with a rare horn

A deer with a single horn that erupts on top of its head - like a mythical unicorn - has been found in a nature reserve in Italy.

"This is like a fantasy in real life," said Gilberto Tozzi, director of the Center for Natural Sciences in Prato, Italy. "One-horn unicorn is still a fantasy-only character."

The 1-year-old Roe deer, nicknamed Unicorn (unicorn unicorn), was born in a park in the Tuscan town in Prato. While its twin brother still has two horns as usual, this animal has a single bug because of a genetic error.

Tozzi believes that these deformities may have been the inspiration for the birth of mythical animals.

One-horned unicorn, a horse-like creature with miraculous healing powers, appeared in ancient stories and legends to the adventures of Harry Potter.

"This shows that even in the past, animals with deformities appeared. Maybe not because of their imagination," Tozzi said.

Rare single-horned deer are not yet available. But what is special in this case is the horn that grows in the center of the head.

"Usually in other malformed animals, the horn will grow on one side. This is a complicated case," said Fulvio Fraticelli, scientific director at the zoo. He thought that the position of the horn could also be the result of some trauma since the life of the creature began.
