According to USA Today , a special set of deer horns is clearly visible on the top of the animal's head, with many small branches reaching out. The third rare horn has two small branches, growing between the large horns.

Michigan Veterinary Association president Steve Edwards affirmed that he had never seen a deer so special and had never even heard of the three-horned deer.
