Discover ancient altar at ancient Aztec temple
Mexican archaeologists have created the most significant discovery of the Aztec civilization for decades, unearthing an altar in the 15th century and a large stone at the ruined temple in Mexico City. .
The work was opened last weekend at the Mayor temple of the Aztec empire, near the central square of Zocalo, where activities of worship and human sacrifice took place. The altar has a Tlaloc rain god pillar and an agricultural god.
It was the most significant discovery since electricians accidentally discovered a stone carved by the Aztec god weighing 8 tons in the same area in 1978.

Archaeologists continue to unearth a 3.5-meter high monolith that they believe belongs to the gate to the underground room. In areas, archaeologists also picked up axes and shovels that plugged into the ground near the monolith.
The Aztecs were extremely devout and aggressive people, building famous tombs, ruling a territory extending from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean, covering many parts of present-day Mexico.
Their bloody empire began in the 14th century and ended when they were conquered by the Spanish in 1521.
The Aztecs began to build Mayor temple shaped like a pyramid in 1357. The temple was at the center of the procedure of sacrificing human bodies. In a festival in 1487, tens of thousands of victims were massacred and heart-wrenched to consecrate the gods.
The Spanish conqueror destroyed the temple and used the stones to build his own capital.
