Discover the 20th lizard species in Vietnam

This lizard species is named after the sample site - Ca Na - lizard rock Gekko canaensis sp. nov. Ngo & Gamble, 2011. This work was published in the international animal classification magazine Zootaxa 2890 , issued at the end of May 2011.

Ca Na lizard is similar in characteristics to the Grossmann lizard - Gekko grossmann , but has red eyes and larger body. The head length is 108.5 mm largest, golden brown, alternating dark brown spots on the head and back. Running along the spine from the back of the neck to the double stalk, there are five to seven white spots, there are six to seven pairs of short white light lines on the sides between the forelegs and the hind legs, with 14-18 holes before the grave in the male. , the tail has dark brown markings and alternating pale brown .

Mr. Ngo Van Tri said, Ca Na stone lizard is facing a decline in natural populations by trapping of local people to make food and export to foreign countries as pets. This is the 20th lizard species described in Vietnam by animal researcher Ngo Van Tri and other researchers in the world.
