Recently, the Smithsonian Institute organized an exhibition to provide viewers with precious art pictures of the lives of Asian countries hundreds of years ago.
These are all pictures that have not been publicly displayed before. Through the exhibition, performers expect people to understand and feel more about how the lives of Asians in the past half millennium are taking place.

1. Varanasi, India
Dubbed the ' holy city of India ', Varanasi has a history of thousands of years. Daily life here has extremely unique and interesting features.
The small, old and cramped streets are the living and traveling places of both people and animals here. More specifically, every road and corner leads to the Ganges through long steps. The photo was taken by photographer Raghubir Singh in 1985.

2. Yutai, China
This picture was taken in China around 1910 by the art intern and founder of Freer Gallery - Charles Freer.
He shared, when he visited Longmen area in China, he was extremely surprised by the massive construction of the architecture here. Nearly 1,000 artificial caves with stone sculptures mastered from the 9th century.

3. Tractor Jinrikisha, China
Derived from the Japanese word 'Jinrikisha ' which is composed by 'jin ' (human, human), ' riki' (strength) and 'sha' (vehicle). Thus, ' Jinrikisha' is the type of vehicle that is powered by human traction. In 1872, there were about 40,000 trailers operating in major cities in Japan and this is also the main means of transport in the country.

4. Tokaido, Japan route
Tokaido is a lifeline connecting the capital in Edo with the feudal capital of Japan, Kyoto . On this route, 53 stations are built to make stops for passersby. This picture was recorded on a sprawling wooden board in 1855.

5. Works of Southern Barbarians, Japan
Southern Barbarians is a famous art work in Japan dating back to the 17th century. This work is 3m long, depicting Portuguese fishermen at a port in Japan.
The picture shows a new image when traditional fishermen interact with the big ship and the commercial culture of exotic foreigners.
6. Famous silk painting in China
Silk weaving first appeared in China, about 5,000 years ago. At first, only the king could use or give to others.
However, silk was gradually used by social classes in China , spread in many places to other parts of Asia. This silk painting " Travelers in the Springtime Mountains " was completed in the sixteenth century.
