Discover the oldest pyramid-like tomb in the world
A tomb with an Egyptian pyramid-like structure discovered by scientists from Saryarkinsky (Karaganda) Archaeological Institute last year and recently published.
This tomb has the same structure as the Djoser pyramid in Saqqara, Egypt, found in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan, about 3,900 miles northeast of the Egyptian capital Cairo.
This tomb structure is similar to the Djoser Pyramid but was built over 1000 years ago.It consists of at least 27 buildings in different periods. The largest building has stone steps with 5 levels.Burial room is about 7m in diameter.
"This structure was built more than 3000 years ago in Saryarke for a local pharaoh - the leader of a tribe at the end of the Bronze Age. In the next few days we will excavate the burial room" , archaeologist Viktor Novozhenov said.
All that is discovered will be transferred to the archaeological museum of Karaganda National University, archaeologist Viktor Novozhenov said.This discovery shows that Karaganda used to be a land of rich culture.
