This ancient tomb of the Wari empire was discovered by archaeologists in El Castillo de Huarmey, about 280km north of Peru's capital Lima. 1,200 years ago, the Wari empire ruled the Andes, before the Incas.

The team said that there were 6 shrouds without shrouds placed in other people's coffins in a very strange position. Therefore, archaeologists speculate that they are sacrifices. In the ancient tomb, the scientific group also saw more than 60 skeleton and mummies, including mummies of three Wari queens, buried with treasures of gold, silver and painted pottery. Most of the skeleton is covered with shroud.

Co-managing the ancient tomb excavation project, Milosz Giersz told Reuters news agency: 'For the first time in archaeological history we have found such an ancient royal tomb. This tomb belongs to the Wari empire and culture '.
