Discovered a lot of particularly hardy toad fish in Phu Tho

A group of particularly rare species of toad fish living at an altitude of 700m above sea level was discovered on August 6 at the area of ​​Hem Mountain primeval forest located in Huong Can commune, Thanh district. Sơn, Phú Thọ province.

Mr. Tran Dang Lau, Deputy Director of the Forest Protection Department of Phu Tho province, said that this is the second time to discover lumpy toad fish in the mountainous district of Thanh Son. Since it has just been discovered, it is not yet confirmed whether this lumpy toad fish is similar to the previous species of toad fish discovered in Xuan Son National Park, but comparing some details in the species of lumpy toad fish discovered in the National Park In Xuan Son, the type of toad fish discovered this time is the same.

This species of toad is characterized by skin covered with small lizard-like nodules, about 5-7cm long, wide head, high-pitched, wide-reaching, slightly sloping glands, The edge of the middle of the back of the hump is very high, the large protruding nape is running along the flanks from the back of the anterior limb to the base of the tail. Under the belly there are wrinkles that run across. The previous limb has 4 fingers, no swimming membrane. The back has 5 fingers, with the membrane swimming at the base of the foot. The tail is upright, sucking tails. The back and abdomen are dark brown. The feet, hands, abdomen and the lower edge of the tail are red brick.

According to Tran Dang Lau, this is a particularly rare species of toad fish, belonging to Group A in the Red Book of protection of Vietnam and the world. This is the fish that helps scientists find the principle of stem cells that are very effective in medicine.

Earlier, in 2003, Thanh Son district discovered lumpy fish at Ten mountain belonging to Xuan Son National Park, Thanh Son district, about 30km away from Hem mountain.
