Discovered two new species of moth toad in Vietnam

Russian scientists have announced two new moth toads are toad bamboo mites (kalophrynus cryptophonus) and Toad spotted toad (kalophrynus honbaensis).

These two new species of toad have morphological characteristics similar to the Kalophrynus interlineatus toad - a fairly common species with widespread distribution across Southeast Asia.

Accordingly, the Kalophrynus cryptophonus , which is named after a Greek word, 'cryptos' means ' hidden', 'mysterious' and ' phonus' means ' cry. " . In a study in Bao Loc, Lam Dong, a Russian researcher discovered a strange cry of a frog. When locating the cries, it took two weeks for researchers to catch this species in a bamboo tube at an altitude of 800m above sea level.

Hon Ba spotted (Kalophrynus honbaensis) with its name is named after Hon Ba natural reserve in Khanh Hoa province. This species was found in forests with a height of 1,500 meters above sea level.

Researcher Phung My Trung said: 'The discovery of two new spotted toads in Vietnam has increased the number of species belonging to the Kalophrynus species to three species and proves that Vietnam is a country with high biodiversity in the region. .
