Discovered a new red snake species in Cambodia
The reptile researchers discovered a red snake with white and black circles on the body in the rainforest in Cambodia.
The new snake belongs to the Kukri red snake group.
AFP said the experts of Fauna & Flora International (FFI) found a new snake in the forest on the Cardamom Mountains in southwest Cambodia. They belong to the red snake group Kukri. The habitat of this snake is shrinking over the years.
According to FFI, the Kukri snake group has some special points. They possess the kukri-shaped curved canines of Nepalese people, so they are called Kukri snakes. They use teeth to prick eggs.
"Most species in the Kukri snake group have only a reddish skin color. The skin of the snake we just discovered is crimson and white and black circles. , Neang Thy, one of the reptile researchers, found the new snake, said.
