Discovering extremely ugly 'ugly' cholesterol

Scientists have identified the third type of cholesterol in human blood alongside good cholesterol HDL and bad LDL cholesterol

There is a difference between total cholesterol in the human body and total good cholesterol HDL - bad LDL cholesterol . Scientists from the Department of Health and Health Sciences - Copenhagen University and Copenhagen University Hospital in Denmark have found that missing link: A type of cholesterol that has never been known. Unfortunately, it is also bad cholesterol.

Danish scientists have found a completely new type of cholesterol in human blood - (illustration from the internet).

Scientists call the new cholesterol "ugly" (ugly cholesterol) to differentiate the familiar bad cholesterol LDL (bad cholesterol) .

The blood test results of many volunteers showed that this third type of cholesterol kept increasing from 20 to 60 years old and always kept high for the rest of the life. If compared with bad LDL cholesterol, it can be present at high levels and equally severe.

"At least as severe as LDL in increasing the risk of acute heart attack and stroke" - Professor - doctor Borge Nordestgaard, head of the study, stressed.

The above results are based on data from 9,239 volunteers from the Copenhagen Population Research program. This data also shows that Danish people have very high "ugly" cholesterol, the main cause is overweight and obesity.

The team also did drug interventions and showed if the patient performed synchronous measures to reduce Trigyceride (free fat in the blood) and reduce "ugly" cholesterol, not just concentrate. By reducing LDL bad cholesterol as previously thought, the risk of cardiovascular disease can be reduced by up to 25%.
