The story of excavation of ancient ships in Vietnamese waters is very interesting. For example, in early 1997, a scuba diving fisherman found a sinking ship 4 miles from Bai Dau beach to the west of Bai Dau, Vung Tau. The divers brought about 105 artifacts, such as ceramics, crystal, glass and bronze. The collection of white porcelain enamel is mostly raw, on the outside of the plate, there are some plates marked De Ploe - Paris sink, under the glaze, which is likely to be the place of production, on some porcelain bowls with the letter of E. Bierermann & Co - Saigon , allowing the identification of goods on board ordered by the company in Saigon around the middle of the nineteenth century.

In particular, Cu Lao Cham ancient ship collection is taken from the most extensive and scientific excavation in history with many advanced equipment.
