DNA denounced transgender people who mass murdered after 22 years

DNA testing technology helps US police break the mass murder case two decades ago by a transgender man.

In early 1990, the police of Spokane County, Washington State, USA repeatedly discovered the nude body of three prostitutes, shot dead with shotguns and dumped near the river flowing through the town. They believe these flower girls are victims of a serial killer, according to Spokesman.

At first, police suspected that the three murderers were Robert L. Yates, a serial killer convicted of murdering 13 women in Spokane County and two women in Pierce County in the late 1990s.

However, Yates denied the accusation of killing the three prostitutes. It was not until 2009, thanks to DNA testing techniques, that Yates was removed from the suspect list. The investigators did not find any more clues, making the case seem to fall into deadlock.

By March 2012, a woman named Donna Perry , 61, was arrested for possessing an illegal gun. Although the arrest was not related to the murder, details of illegal gun possession caught the attention of investigators, prompting them to rummage the case file 22 years ago.

After sampling Perry's DNA, the police found it coincided with the DNA pattern found at the crime scene. Investigating the suspect's house, investigators discovered a cabinet containing the victims' underwear, stored as "spoils" for murders.

Following this clue, the police found the car Perry used and found a shell in it, coinciding with the shell at the scene of killing three prostitutes.

The investigation results show that Donna Perry was originally Douglas Perry , carrying male gender. Douglas had a criminal record of assaulting, storing weapons and explosives, and engaging in prostitution, having been sentenced to 18 months in Oregon prison in 1998 while in the process of using transgender drugs and claiming to be a woman. After leaving prison, the man went to Thailand to have his testicle removed in 2000 and took the new name Donna.

After Donna was arrested, a fellow prisoner claimed that during his imprisonment with Douglas in 1998, he revealed that he had killed at least 9 prostitutes in the area because they could become pregnant and Douglas was not, because he is male transgender women, according to Crimefeed.

Donna was accused of a level 1 murder by the prosecutor in 2014 and is being held in the Spokane County prison. The trial of this suspect is expected to begin in June 2017.
