The process of changing the body when injecting transgender hormones

According to Dr Tra Anh Duy, there are two basic steps in a person's process, including hormone therapy and surgery.

The cost of transgender surgery is usually over VND 100 million so not all transgender people have economic conditions to implement. Therefore, many people only use hormone injections to get the same sexual expression as they want. When using this therapy, depending on many factors such as age, genetics, medical conditions, transgender people have different changes.

Rearrangement of body fat

When hormone injections will occur the process of rearranging body fat. For transgender women, fat focuses more on the hips, breasts and cheeks. The transgender male to injecting testosterone will lose the feminine curves of the body and reduce the size of the breast.

Redistribute muscle

Hormones can affect the muscular system but do not affect the bone. Using female hormones leads to a decrease in muscle mass over time, while reducing muscle strength, especially in the chest and shoulders. Meanwhile, transgender people from female to male who use hormone testosterone will make muscles stronger. This result depends very much on the intensity of their exercise.

Changes in hair and hair

Transgender people inject testosterone, which grow denser hair throughout the body, especially on the face, beard and hair, and can even form bald heads. Meanwhile, transgender women who use estrogen hormones often have hair loss. The hairs of women who use female hormones will be thinning but not bald. However, the amount of hair on the body depends on the genetic factor. If a person has a thick haired gene, this condition may not change when taking a female hormone.

Genital

The transgender female, after a period of using female hormones, testicular volume will decrease by about 25%, reducing the ability to erect erectile, soft penis but not shortened. The breasts will grow, but not like a normal woman.

In transgender people to men, menstruation will disappear, the clitoris enlarges and becomes long but cannot be as big as a penis. The breast will shrink and collapse, but it cannot be completely like a man.

Feel

Hormone transgender can affect user mood. Many transgender men feel lack of calm, impatience, increased desire for social and sexual activity. Meanwhile female transgender people become softer, more harmonious and happier.

Reduce fertility

Long-term use of hormones can cause infertility in both men and women. So many transgender people who want to give birth in a natural way must send sperm or eggs to the reserve bank.

Skin changes

The transgender woman's skin often becomes smoother, softer and brighter. In transgender people, the skin will become more oily and more acne-prone. This condition can be improved if you know how to take appropriate skin care and dermatological treatment.

Voice

Hormones often do not affect the voice of female transgender people, so they often have to undergo speech therapy therapy. Male transgender people tend to form deeper voices after several weeks of using hormone testosterone.

In terms of safety in the use of transgender hormones, Dr Tra Anh Duy recommends the potential risk of hormonal therapy if voluntarily used without the quantitative monitoring of hormones in the body by a doctor.
