Discovery News said that both dogs and cats cannot suck and drink liquids like humans because their cheeks have the same structure as four-legged predators. The cat's drinking process consists of two steps, placing the tip of the tongue gently touching the water surface and then quickly retracting it, forming a water column below the tongue.

Associate Professor Sunny Jung and colleagues at Virginia Tech University, USA, use high-speed camcorders and mathematical models to shed light on the dynamics process that occurs when dogs drink water.

"Before starting this study, we thought that dogs drink water similar to cats. But the truth is completely different. The dog smashes his tongue on the water, splashing water while a cat never does. that " , Sunny Jung said.

When drinking water, the dog bends its tongue backwards and plunges its tongue into the liquid, then draws its tongue back to the mouth quickly. During this process, the liquid contained in the curved blade section is fed into the mouth by inertial force.

The force of the cat's tongue pulled up to form a water column twice as strong as the gravity. Meanwhile, the force generated by dogs is about eight times stronger than gravity.
