DRAM with double storage capability
Micron (USA) is preparing to release DRAM chip with capacity up to 16 GB and affirms this is the version with the highest memory density on the market.
Source: hynix Micron said their new memory module is equipped with 72 DDR2 2 Gb discs but arranged into 36 TwinDie double disks 4 Gb. TwinDie technology will help limit and shorten access routes to the chip, thus enabling faster data entry / exit in memory.
Micron's new product is being distributed to server manufacturers. The company affirmed that storage capacity and reliability will support businesses such as banks and buying websites . to handle large volumes of information.
Shane Rau, an analyst with research firm IDC, said Micron's move would "provoke" other manufacturers to release even more dense versions. Micron's current competitors include Qimonda (Germany), Hynix and Samsung (South Korea).
