They have drawn this conclusion after discovering that some elephants suddenly evacuated in Namibia and this unusual behavior has not been explained before, according to a report posted on Plos One.

Geology professor of Texas A&M University (USA) - Oliver Frauenfeld - said they closely watched all the movements of elephants, to explain why they suddenly moved to another place with speed. Impressive fastness.

In total, experts installed GPS navigation devices for nine elephants of different flocks and monitored them for seven years.

Results showed that elephants frequently change routes during the rainy season in Namibia, from January and March each year.

Once they knew the direction of the storm, they began to move close to that place, increasing their chances of accessing precious water after long dry months.
