The new type of chili is called Infinity because of the "never-ending" spicy flavor, even the best spicy liquid is milk can not solve. Infinity has pushed the current hot pepper Bhut Jolokia (used to make riot control grenades in India) into the second row.

Gardener Woody Woods, 37, who lives at Fire Foods in Grantham, said: 'Eating it is like eating charcoal. Growing such a hot pepper in our climatic conditions is unbelievable '.

Woods and friend Matt Simpson, 38, have planted Infinity peppers in a greenhouse by breeding existing chili varieties. They hope to launch a new chili market this year. Tests at Warwick University ranked Infinity at 1,067,286 units on the Scoville ruler used to measure spicy levels.

The previous most spicy chilli, India's Bhut Jolokia, was measured at 1,041,427 units. Jalapeno peppers measure only 2,500 to 5,000 units. Meanwhile chili grenade was made at 2 million units.
