"The Nobel Peace Prize represents the aspirations of reconciliation around the world. The prize money from this prize must be dedicated to the first hope of the future, also the first victim of conflicts in the past. and current: children, " AFP quoted European Union Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso in a statement on November 14.

Last month, the Nobel Committee awarded the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize to the EU for bringing more than half a century of peace to the continent that was destroyed during World War II. This decision later encountered mixed reactions, including praise and objection.

This year's award comes with money worth 930,000 euros, equivalent to $ 1.2 million. Barroso will receive the bonus in Oslo, Norway, on December 10, with EU president Herman Van Rompuy.

The EU on November 15 also announced a drawing competition for young people aged 8 to 24. Four winners will be invited to attend a prize ceremony.
