The European Union (EU) will donate nearly one million euros of this year's Nobel Peace Prize to children affected by war and conflict.

On the afternoon of December 10, the European Union was officially awarded the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize by moving a continent from war to peace.

The 27-member coalition today was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its contributions to peace, reconciliation, democracy and human rights throughout its years.
