Fabrication of new CO2 separators is more than 500 times more effective

Scientists at Hanyang University (South Korea) and University of Texas (USA) have announced that they have successfully built a filter that only allows CO2 and other small molecules to pass through and prevent the movement of Larger molecules like methane .

This is a breakthrough film that other membranes cannot. It can be used in natural gas wells to separate CO2 from methane as well as to use in thermal power plants to recover CO2 and only allow nitrogen to pass.

This membrane will help solve the problem of separating small molecules in mining, gas separation, increasing energy efficiency in purifying water .

Based on the shape of plant filters, scientists have fabricated this membrane with hourglass shapes that can be used in many industries, especially in oil and gas extraction as well as processing. Environmental pollution.

This membrane can be used to cut CO 2 emissions of thermal power plants as well as to filter CO 2 from natural gas during gas processing. The process of filtering through this new membrane is 500 times more efficient than the technologies currently used.

Researchers hope this material will have a potential in the future. They are now changing the manufacturing process to be able to create specially designed filters that allow other gases to pass through, such as methane and nitrogen, to pass through easily.

The Korean government supported this study with a budget of $ 1.08 million over five years in a research and development program for the 21st century to increase the competitiveness of Korean science and technology.
