Scientists have found a way to heal heart cells after life-threatening pain.

A group of researchers from Italy and Spain conducted a test on pigs by directly injecting IGF-1 and HGF proteins into the heart. The results show that damaged cells in the heart can heal themselves and begin the regeneration process after using these proteins to bind to their surroundings.

Dr. Bernardo Nadal-Ginard, director of John Moores University's Center for Reproductive and Cell Biology, appreciates this four-year study by simplicity and low cost, while the Existing clinical trials are very expensive both in time and money.

Another member of the research team, Dr. May Ellison, said the cost of clinical trials was guaranteed. The research team is talking with several funding agencies and Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital to attract more funding and conduct clinical trials in the UK.
