"We have checked documents and graves in France, Spain, in order to restore the da Vinci family."
Vezzosi and Sabato have identified the descendants of Ser Piero da Vinci, the father of Italian genius. Born, he was a Florentine notary.
"With this finding, scientists can isolate da Vinci's DNA, find descendants 15 generations later , " Vezzosi said.
Researchers will publish details at a press conference that took place April 14, the day before da Vinci's 564th birthday. Some of his descendants will attend.
"There are many notable names on this list," Vezzosi added.
