First-aid and prevention of red-tail snakes

Red-tailed snakes are one of the most powerful venom snakes. Its toxicity is second only to the king cobra. In particular, when pregnant, mother snakes have venom higher than normal. In snake venom, there are more than 20 different ingredients, moreover, this snake's bite is often bleeding and swollen very quickly.

When bitten by a red-tailed snake, the patient may experience symptoms such as hemolysis, edema, neurotoxicity, respiratory paralysis, cardiovascular collapse. Without proper first aid and timely emergency, the victim may suffer psychological shock, poison quickly moves to the heart, coagulation disorders and lead to loss of life.

Therefore, when being bitten by a red-tailed snake, the victim and the surrounding people need to keep calm to give first aid quickly in order to resolve the pain, swelling, hemorrhage, hemolysis, and necrosis. .

 

  1. Step 1 : First, it is necessary to keep the victim still and motionless as this movement will make the venom penetrate the body faster. If the jewelry is worn near the bitten area, it should be quickly removed to avoid being pinched and causing swelling.
  2. Step 2 : Immobilizing tape to slow the paralysis and prevent the spread of venom.

How to compress: Press your hands, gauze or a clean towel over the wound. Allow the victim to lie comfortably, placing the injured part higher to reduce blood pressure. Then, use gauze tape to press the gauze or towel into the wound, tying firmly but still enough to circulate blood. The bandage should be pressed tightly above the wound from 5 to 10 cm to prevent the spread of toxins back to other parts.

  1. Step 3 : Quickly transport the victim to the nearest medical facility to transmit serous anti-venom-resistant serum, preferably for the first 4 hours after snakebite. When transporting, pay attention, try to keep the victim still. If the victim exhibits dyspnea, CPR can be performed.

Note: When bitten by a snake, do not bandage the wound too tightly with a tourniquet because it can easily lead to necrosis; Do not cover leaves, suck venom in a folk way but only fix the wound, move gently. Patients who have to go to the hospital as soon as possible, after a few days of seroconversion can reduce clinical symptoms.

Prevent the red-tailed snakes from attacking

  1. Clean up around the house, cut the grass short, clear the bushes as this can become a home for red-tailed green snakes.
  2. Keep houses and surroundings clean, kill, remove rats and insects because these are favorite prey of red-tailed snake snakes.
  3. Carefully examine the cracks and crevices around the house because it is also the place where the red-tailed snake snakes.
  4. Planting trees such as lemongrass, kudzu, garlic orchids . to prevent red snakes from approaching.
