Fish shooting insects

The fish archers spray strong water jets on the insects on the branches so that they fall into the water and rush to and compact.

Archer fish (of the family Toxotidae ) consists of 5 species distributed in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. They are known for their ability to catch prey by spraying water on insects and small animals on trees or soil so they fall. Thanks to a specially formed mouth, archery fish can create great pressure in the mouth to spray strong water rays into the target. They have a pointed head, wide mouth, flattened body and elongated body. Archers can live in both freshwater and saltwater. Most of the time they swim near the water.

Toxotes jaculator - the best known archerfish - has an average length of 18 cm in adulthood.
